walking inwards into the island.
my precious!!!
that white sharp building used to be, n still is a chapel.
not too sure what this brown building is though.
and yea! playful boys playing swing inside the building. not sure if it will eventually cause the building to crumble... well, it didnt...
upon arrival on the relatively small island, we saw the place we were going to live in.
our 1st thot: looks like a haunted house *hehe
its old though.
we have reached!
see that huge ship like structure. those used to be ships that the settlers travelled in.
360 degree view from the boat as we travelled.
the boat journey was simple breathtaking.
although its windy and cold outside
time to board our boat to bring us over the sea to the st martin island.
26th-27th may
*Trip to St Martin Island*
this is the base to St Martin Island from mainland.
and the many little boats.
St Martin Island, also commonly known as Quarantine Island.
its located at Otago Habour.
this was the island, e 1st explorer of NZ stepped foot on hundreds of years ago when NZ was founded.
many years later, when more europeans, aka Pakeha, came into NZ, this became a quarantine island for immigrants with illness or suspect to be infected with contagious disease.
apart from being a quarantine island, there was a period in history, then this island was where prisoners were "kept"
so on this island, there r traces of the prison, hospital and structure for guns n weapons.
25th may
*dinner at Nova Resturant*
met up with Aika, Lydia & Miki for dinner at Nova.
the strawberry & chocolate cheese cake is simply yummy.
it doesnt tast like typical cheese cake. isnt too cheesy, yet isnt like those sponge cheese cake. it just taste different. and nice! i shared a piece with Aika. e portion was just right.
